Emergency personnel at the scene said a Buick Roadmaster apparently turned from Regent Road onto Route 33 and was struck by a Chevrolet Suburban traveling west on Route 33. The Suburban struck the Buick on the driver’s side, causing the driver’s door to jam.
Members of the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department used the “jaws of life” to remove the door and free the female driver of the Buick. She complained of injuries to her back and shoulder, said emergency personnel, and the female driver of the Suburban complained of knee and ankle pain.
Both drivers were transported by ambulance to an area hospital by the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad of Deltaville. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to a squad member.
