Shop raided: Topping man arrested

A Topping man is charged with three felonies and is being held without bond following his arrest on Friday, December 21, reported Middlesex County Sheriff David Bushey.

Sheriff Bushey said the suspect, Will Rogers of Topping, was apprehended near Hummel Field during a felony vehicle stop.

According to police, a search warrant was executed at Rogers’ Harmony Grove motorcycle shop about 4 p.m. Friday. A Virginia State Police tactical team gained entry by using a vehicle to pull open the front door, which had security bars on it.

Evidence was seized, including a still for making moonshine alcohol. Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agents were called to the scene.

There were no injuries.

More details will be released as they become available. The case remains under investigation.
