Public hearing sought on proposed sewage plant
Alana Courtney of Urbanna said she delivered more than 160 letters to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) on Tuesday that asked for a public hearing or commented on a proposed wastewater treatment plant that would serve Saluda and discharge into Urbanna Creek.
The plant is being proposed by the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors.
DEQ may hold a public hearing, including another comment period, if there is significant public response and there are substantial, disputed issues relevant to the permit, stated the DEQ public notice.
Melissa and Kevin Hopkins, who own property on Urbanna Creek, have created a blog “Save Urbanna Creek” at http://urbannacreek.blogspot.com/.
