Midlothian woman commits suicide off Norris Bridge

Lancaster County Sheriff Ronnie Crockett reports that Jody G. Bowker, 50 of Midlothian, Virginia was the victim of an apparent suicide from the Robert O. Norris Bridge at White Stone last night.
According to Sheriff Crockett, a motorist called the sheriff’s office at about 6:55 p.m. and reported that a woman had stopped her vehicle on the bridge and jumped off. Deputies from both Lancaster and Middlesex counties responded along with a boat from the Virginia Marine Resources Commission. The victim’s body was recovered and taken to Middlesex County for an initial examination by the local medical examiner.
The victim’s family was contacted, and her vehicle was stored locally for routine processing as part of the investigation.
At this time all indications are that this was a suicide. A final autopsy report will not be available for 6-8 weeks.
