The home of William Rogers at Harmony Village near the intersection of Routes 33 and 3 was totally destroyed by fire Saturday about 3:30 a.m. No one was home at the time of the fire.
Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department chief Alan Blake said when firemen arrived on the scene, the roof on the double-wide home had already collapsed and the walls were burning to the ground.
The house and belongings were a total loss and the fire is under investigation by the Virginia State Police, said Blake.
Hartfield and the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department of Deltaville responded to the fire. The Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad of Deltaville was also on the scene.
In the past 13 weeks, there have been seven major fires in the county that have destroyed five homes and two commercial buildings.
