Quarles at Locust Hill (above) and Tall Chief Market at Syringa were both robbed at gunpoint this weekend.
A suspected gunman who allegedly held up two county convenience stores was arrested Monday afternoon, said Middlesex Sheriff Guy Abbott. The man had been living in Middlesex. Other suspects are being investigated, he said.

Earlier in the day Abbott reported that two local convenience stores were robbed at gunpoint this weekend.

On Saturday, February 7, at approximately 8:15 p.m. Tall Chief Market on Regent Road in the Syringa area reported that a white male, approximately 5’7” with blond hair, approached the clerk with a handgun and demanded money. According to the clerk on duty, the armed robber left with an undisclosed amount of money.

On Sunday, February 8, at approximately 9:15 p.m. Quarles Shell Station, located on Route 33 in Locust Hill, was also robbed at gunpoint. Again, a white male matching the same description entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.

Persons may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in these incidents. Those with information should call the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office Crime Line (804) 758-5600.
